So, even with all the craziness and madness going on in the U.S. and worldwide today, there are still those who take a moment to live for today and look good even with rising prices on EVERYTHING! The economy, as we hear about everyday, is so on the decline..yeah, yeah , we all know that, we all are effected by that, Yet, we must keep moving forward(as my daughter repeats from her favorite movie "Meet the Robinsons") But, its true..thats what we gotta do. What else is there?, besides worrying, stressing, and freakin out..We don't want to do that..so, in celebration of moving forward and still looking good for ourselves and our COUNTRY!!. I love these summer pieces and looks. Don't you just love when summer comes around, we all get to show off a little more and feel great. Hopefully, I'll get to do that this year on the beach in Destin. I'm counting on it. Heather

Amy Adams shows us that the old myth about redheads not being able to pull off the sexy red dress has been thwarted. She looks very sophisticated and well put together. No color clashes here.

Carla shows us that having a classic look in your closet can pay off. There's not always a need to be so glamed up like you'll be on the red carpet. For goodness sakes, we are normal people, who have jobs, where we do normal people things. HaHa. Well most of us anyway.

Beale Street Music Fest- WOW!

Hi. The Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival was stacked this year. The lineup was full of great bands and singers that everybody wanted to see and hear. Everyone from Katy Perry to Ben Harper, and Shinedown. There was definitely something there for every music lover. I had a great time with my hubby and cousins and friends. As far as Katy Perry goes, she for sure has her own style that pretty much always looks cute and girls wanna copy her. She uses bright colors and fabrics to accentuate and make her really stand out. I love her pink tights. They are so retro- now- modern- old skool- and IN! The corset really sets it off with a cute frilly skirt too.

So, it was pretty crowded but thats to be expected when you have so many awesome performers in one place. I got to hear and see Katy, Ben Harper, and a new band I hadn't ever heard of before but liked a lot. Got a lot of excercise too. It was a good time!! Heather

Memphis has always been known for its blues riffs, great bbq and southern charm but thanks to Craig Brewer, Live from Memphis and other indpendent artists this city is quickly becoming a staple for music and film artists alike. Five Dollar Cover which premiers on MTV May 1st covers Memphis Musicians who are well known in Memphis and are on the verge of stardom. Amy Levere, Muck Sticky, Valerie June, Al Kapone and Lucero are just a few in the musical line up. Some of this will be scripted but all of the musical performances are the artists original music. I agree with Craig when he said this is an invitation into our backyard. Five Dollar Cover was originally supposed to be a web series but MTV was so impressed with the quality that they decided to air this on the t.v. as well. This is a great accomplishment for Craig Brewer who also wrote and directed Poor and Hungry, Hustle and Flow and Black Snake Moan. He truly is the Memphis Elvis of Film. haven't met these guys yet? I will casually introduce you...Friends, meet TV on the Radio hailing as one of NYC's hometown heroes (http://www.tvontheradio.com/) and one of mine personally. As with most heroes they have an epoch mission and in their case, the mission is music. But before we throw TV into an endless category of up and comers, has beens and never will be's lets look beyond the obvious "music" part of the band. Lyrically, they are geniuses and who in the hell uses digital the way they do? Noone I tell you noone.... Did I mention that they look cool and stylish as hell doing this...??? So technically they are not a new band but they are evolving and setting endless trends along the way which makes them iconic in many respects. That would be Mr. Tom Waits of Course whose rasp resembles gravel and whose style remains timeless and ironically, it also resembles gravel...Of coure i'm not talking literal gravel here but instead a sense of attitude, edge and RAW talent. Tom in short, has found a style and sound that will keep him selling albums long after he's gone and have realists mimicing his elegant, yet simple styles. This of course is what rock and fashion are all about. Expression in its most innocent form where the music will reflect the fashion and the fashion will bust your ear drums... I guess you have to mention that its only real if you have a little attitude and in my not so humble opinion, only you have to like you...that should be good enough. There are few celebs you can always count on to look trendy and HOTT!! Kanye is most definitely one of them today. It doesn't matter if he's in a commercial or in the cafe buying a drink, he dresses to impress. His styles differ from casual to dressed to the nine. He pairs new styles with older ones to redefine fashion.

He's a style genius..He brought back the shutter shades and made them bigger than ever. Lots of times guys have such a hard time finding stylish, yet inexpensive clothing. They gotta hunt and hunt and still most of the time, they have to pay way more than us girls do to get a nice outfit. But if you look at Kanye's outfits you see how much thought he puts into it. You can find good deals on vintage items that can be paired with quality, higher priced pieces. Man!, the possibilities are endless. Kanye sets the tone. I give him his props for his hip eye. Spring is definitely one of my favorite times of the year...The air is fresh the breeze is cool and finally, there's COLOR EVERYWHERE... Nature has provided the pallet for spring essentials with bright whites, poised pastels, blinding yellows, mellow hues and every other combination of colors we aren't brave enough to wear. "Going Spring" doesn't have to be costly and multiple looks can be created cheaply by combining old and new apparel.

I've heard the perfect term to describe today's fashion guru on a budget. "Recessionista" as told by 2Threads.com. I love it. It's perfect for today's shopper who loves all the new designs and must haves but doesn't have so much capital to work with at the shops. So, for those of us who fall into the recessionista category, there is a solution. Instead of buying all the pieces you want and extinguishing your wallet, buy those pieces that are good quality and that will last longer as far as style wise and quality of material and stitching is concerned. That way you can pair these quality pieces with some accessories or other pieces you already have or are cheaper. Vintage shopping helps here. We've gone through so many different styles and looks, but finally feminine is in again for us girls. Yay!! Even the bad girls who dont want to dress up and get all frilly, want to have a feminine touch to their rebel look. It's so fun now because everyone is beautiful and can be unique showing their own personality. Anything goes!!! Every era up until now can be recognized by its own particular fashions. Like, the 50s can always be known for its feminine dresses and suits, the 80s were completely bright with outrageous colors. The sixties with its hippies, and so on. But the present era can only be characterized as having a complete mixture of fashions steming from every era past till now. People everyday take inspirations from the 60s, 80s, 90s, 50s whenever. This trends are new and done with a modern twist. I know we've all heard the saying that fashion trends always comes back. On the other hand, if something was never in style in the first place, then should it have rights to come back?

I answer you "NO"!! Holes in you jean skirts or daisy dukes never and will never look good. At least, not when it is done wrong. I'm all about creating a coutured look with some jeans or a shirt, but come on if you don't think it looks good when you try it on, Don't Wear It! Now, I know there are some guys right now going, "Yea, but if I can see her butt, even just a little bit, then its worth it". But truly the outfit doesn't look good, don't you agree? Each to their own, I guess.
Instead of huge gaping holes and slashes with huge strings hanging all over the place, try a simple cut or smaller hole that looks fresh and not so worn. Couturing can be fun and stylish if done fashionably.

I'm not saying I mind and I'd even go as far as to say I love a good woman who knows how to accessorize. The trick for the fellas is to pick accessories that won't compromise your edginess or ones that make you look like your trying too hard. Try adding a hat to your look for an extra component of style. I'm not talking about a baseball cap on backwards with the whole front of your hair showing...that's way out...Try a small brimmed hat with jeans and a tee and no, you don't have to cock the hat to the side unless you really want to. Also try throwing on a scarf to update your look. This can be a controversial move but you shouldn't have any problems as long as you avoid looking like the Jonas Brothers while doing it. I know the big gaudy sunglasses can be somewhat cliche but you can still pull off an edgy look sporting a pair. For a more alternative look try getting a pair of big glasses in a non-traditional color like blue or red. This instantly changes the look and gives off a more indie vibe.

Wearing vintage garb can be tough and not everyone can pull it off. The trick is not to overkill the look by being dressed out in vintage from head to toe. Like with most things there is a right and a wrong way to go vintage. Theses tips might help you pull off a balanced look.

Vintage is great but much better if paired with some of today's trends. Try taking a vintage shirt and tie and pairing it with with some baggy jeans. This is a loose look but you can't deny the swagger. Guys, please embrace the pinks and purples. I promise they are your friends and more importantly, your manhood will remain in tact, I promise.

I'm big on not having to say too much to get my point across. Some people like to hear themselves talk, but I'm not one of them. Don't you sometimes wish you had a device that could transfer the exact message you wanted to convey to someone, and this machine could be turned on and off to your discretion. No more miscommunications or jumbling of words. We would all understand each other a bit more, I think. Maybe a pair of glasses could be the vessel through which this exchange could occur. I put the glasses on, my message is relayed. Then, I take off the glasses and my own thoughts are mine again. Pretty cool. Until someone comes along and forces me to wear them when I don't want to and all my dirty little secrets are revealed. Oh well. Maybe I don't want those glasses to be invented. I guess I'm just gonna have to learn to take it like a big girl and learn how to express myself. Maybe this blogging thing has something to it...hmmmm....

Kings of Leon - Kings of Tennessee

Maybe I'm a little biased cause I have some Tennessee blood pumping through my veins but I am continually impressed with the Kings music and edgy fashion sense. Few thought that three brothers and one cousin from Tennessee could release three chart topping albums with the fourth about to drop. It's cool to see the evolution of their sound from the driving guitars of "Molly's Chambers" on their first album to the more vocally focused "Revelry" off their new album.
